It’s In The Party Bag are a party company in Essex who provide a range of products to hire for events. From sweet carts to donut walls, light up letters to chair covers, they really do have everything you could need to accessorise your event! We caught up with Hannah, the lovely lady who owns this business, to find out a little more about her, her successful business and even her favourite dance song!
When did you start your business?
Officially it was 12th September 2016
What made you start an event planning business?
It was my son’s 3rd Birthday and he wanted a Thomas the Tank Engine Party. So, I themed everything around this, from the invites to the party bags…and everything in between! Following his party, I was asked by a friend if I could do the same for her daughter, and then someone from that party asked and so forth. In the last 4 years it has grown so much that we can now provide a full event service for all occasions.
Your business name is really original – how did you come up with it?
I came up with the name from the saying “It’s In The Bag” when everything is sorted. I just added in the ‘party’ bit as that what we are providing services for!
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I love helping clients make their event extra special and memorable, but also stress free. I enjoy turning up at a venue and turning the client’s dreams into reality.
Is there a particular type of event you most like working on?
Every event is special to me and is different in so many ways that it’s hard to choose a particular type.
Which product that you hire out to customers is your favourite?
It has to be our Flower Walls, along with Flower Arches and Blossom Trees as they really transform a venue! But it really depends on the type of event because if it’s a party I love our Candy Floss machine with LED Light Up Sticks.
What has been the best moment so far?
Oh that’s a hard one! I was once providing Candy Floss at a children’s party and when the entertainer told the children to grab an adult to dance with, I had about 10 children grab me to dance with them! I also was able to provide a sweet cart to a bride who had been let down the day before her wedding so it was nice to come to her rescue.
What challenges have you had to overcome since starting your business?
I was orginally trying to work part-time and also run this business which was very stressful, but with the support of my family and friends I took the leap and left my job. I now run my business full time.
How do you keep yourself motivated?
I love what I do so it’s easy to keep motivated but it’s mainly my son that keeps me going. I love being able to be to take him to school and collect him, but also building a business for him to takeover when he is older should he wish to.
In what ways has Covid-19 impacted your business this year?
It’s had a very big impact on my business as most bookings were cancelled. But, it did give me the chance to spend time with my family and also to spend time on my business by updating the services we provide and also our website.
Do you have any plans for future developments?
Yes, I would like to have a showroom for event items and also have a party venue where we can host our own parties!
Finally, what’s your favourite party drink and party tune?
As I don’t drink I love trying different mocktails. On the dance floor, it has to be bit of ABBA or Come on Eileen!
