Celebrating in the Garden – Afternoon Tea

Celebrating in the Garden:

2020, for obvious reasons, has become the year of Garden Parties. Whether you have a birthday, baby shower, anniversary…or just want a post Lockdown catch up with friends and family, there are many way to hold a memorable celebration in your own garden. In our new blog series, we take a look at different ways you can mark those special occasions at home.

 Afternoon Tea At Home

There is something very special and indulgent about Afternoon Tea. Whether it is that you have the chance to eat tasty sandwiches and an abundance of delicious cakes, or simply that you can relax and ‘switch off’ for a couple of hours, we just love it! As this week is National Afternoon Tea Week, we thought this would be the perfect theme for our first look at celebrating at home.

Sandwiches & Cakes

afternoon-tea-boxes2-768x537Whilst you could  spend time making your own cakes and sandwiches, there are many local businesses who are now offering to make, and deliver, an afternoon tea. To be fully ‘Covid Secure’, these generally come individually wrapped for each guest, and many even include Prosecco to give your Afternoon Tea a little more indulgence. We tried a delivery from Twisted Cakes by Tia, based in Hertfordshire, and it was fabulous! (See the picture). If you want to find a supplier in your area, have a look on our website to see if we have anyone listed in your area…and if we don’t, let us know and we can help you find one!

Tableware

If you want to go for a fully authentic look, have a hunt around in local charity shops where you will probably be able to find beautiful vintage china cups and saucers. There are also many companies that offer to hire vintage tableware – visit our website to find a selection of companies that offer this service.

Decorations

Keep it casual and stylish with some pretty bunting, table cloths and simple garden decorations, or go to town with Prosecco Walls, Flower Walls, Light Up Letters and Numbers….the list is endless! There are many places where you can hire props that will give your event that extra wow factor. It’s in The Party Bag (Essex) and Delarose Events (Hertfordshire) are just two companies that offer such items. For other companies in different areas see the Party Props & Decor Hire page on our website.

Whatever occasion you are celebrating, we hope that you have a Tea-rrific time at your Afternoon Tea Party! And look out for Part 2 in our new blog series…coming soon.
