Kids love birthdays….though parents can often find it a challenge to come up with new and exciting party ideas every year! No matter what your child is into, it is always possible to find a theme or idea that will suit them. To help you out, we have put together 11 fun kids’ party ideas to make their day extra special….
1. Domes & Igloos
Hiring a dome or igloo gives you endless possibilities for parties no matter what the weather. They can be decorated with any theme and look stunning during the day or lit up at night. Most companies have packages that include hot tubs, cinema screens, luxe picnics and sleepovers but you can just hire the dome and decorate it yourself if you’re feeling creative. An igloo is also a great idea for a mini pamper party or a craft party.
To get more out of your dome, why not double up and make it a kid’s venue in the afternoon and invite your friends round in the evening!
Domes and Dreams, based in Hertfordshire, have a selection of dome and bell tent packages and also offer full party planning.
To find suppliers in other areas, take a look at our Igloo and Dome Hire page.
2. Movie Night
Suitable for all ages, cinema hire is always a popular choice. Movies can be streamed in various ways, so whether it’s Toy Story, Harry Potter, or something else entirely, they’ll be able to see their favourite films on the big screen. Cinema screens can be setup inside, or outdoors under a gazebo or in an igloo or bell tent. Whatever location you choose, you just need to supply the drinks and snacks to keep the birthday guests happy!
3. Craft Party
Do you have a budding Picasso or an avid crafter? Then a creative party is a fantastic option. Whether they’re into pottery painting, jewellery making or build a bear, there are plenty of kits available to suit their tastes. Craft parties are also a great way to try something new and discover new talents!
4. Princesses & Superheroes
If your child is a Disney Princess fan or loves superheroes, then a character party would make their day! From hosting the party to special visits, having their favourite character entertain them and their friends will make their birthday truly magical!
Little Party Lambs are based in Hertfordshire and offer themed children’s parties, character visits, balloons and more.

5. Hot Tub Hire
For a more grown up party, and especially popular for teens, hiring a hot tub is a great option. Even in the cooler months, you can’t beat being in a tub of bubbling, warm water! Add a gazebo, fairy lights and a cinema screen to make it extra special.
6. Soft Play & Inflatables
Smaller children love a soft play area and it has become increasingly popular to hire your own rather than going to a local centre. Depending on space and the weather, it can be set up indoors or in the garden – either way you can be sure your little ones will have a blast. If your home doesn’t have the space needed, you could always hire a hall and hold the party there.
Hiring a bouncy castle or inflatable slide is a guaranteed way to keep kids of all ages entertained and wear them out at the same time!
Teepees and bell tents continue to be really popular for sleepovers and are a great way of making it a little more special. There are endless themes to choose from so there’s no limit to creating an awesome slumber party!
Sleep Tight Sleepovers set up fabulous teepees, bell tents and luxe picnic tables in and around Ely, Cambridgeshire. Once Upon A Sleepover are based in Harlow, Essex.

8. Luxe Picnic Tables
A pretty themed picnic is a lovely addition to any party, and they don’t just have to be for summer! They can easily be set up inside, providing you have enough space, and are a lovely way to share a birthday tea. Most companies can also include a bell tent or teepee too.
9. Pamper Party
Make the partygoers feel really special and grown up with a pamper session. Nails and make-up or even glitter tattoos will be a special treat and a memorable day. Many companies offer to come and run pamper parties, but you could always set up your own with different stations – if you can get enough willing helpers!
10. Mini Golf
Mini golf is always fun and now it’s possible to hire your own set and choose your venue. They can be set up indoors or outside and can be played as many times as you wish!
Tee-Party Mini Golf Hire offer packages around Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
11. Face Painters
Children love having their faces painted! Whether they are after a fierce lion or a glittery butterfly, having a face painter at the party is most definitely a fun way to keep them entertained. Make sure you have the camera ready to take some fabulous photos! (And if you have the time, print them off before they leave – a great party bag alternative!)
There are so many wonderful kid’s party ideas out there. Whatever you decide on, enjoy!
